Privacy Policy

Effective May 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Runhaus collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile apps and related services. We tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@runhaus.app.

1. Who we are

Runhaus ("we", "us") operates the Runhaus mobile app for iPhone and Apple Watch, the runhaus.app website, and related cloud services. You can reach us at hello@runhaus.app.

2. Data we collect

Account information: your email address, chosen handle, display name, and optional profile photo. Profile photos may be selected from your device's Photo Library or captured with your camera.

Run data: GPS traces while a run is active (with your permission), motion sensor data, distance, pace, splits, and elevation. With your permission we also import workouts from Apple Health and write completed Runhaus runs back to Apple Health.

Voice audio: while live voice chat is active during a paired or group run, your microphone audio is transmitted in real time. Voice audio is ephemeral — it is not recorded, transcribed, or stored on our servers or any third party's servers.

Music metadata: if you connect Spotify or Apple Music, we read the title and artist of what you are currently playing so we can show it to your run partner. We do not access your library or playlists.

Device data: device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, push notification tokens, and crash diagnostics.

Communications: messages you send through Runhaus chats, posts to club feeds, comments, and direct messages to us at hello@runhaus.app.

3. How we use your data

To run the service: match you with runners at your pace, power live runs and races, sync your stats to Apple Health, deliver voice coaching, and let your club see your activity.

To verify races: we use GPS traces server-side to confirm that race results were earned by actually running the distance.

To keep things working: diagnose crashes, fix bugs, monitor performance, and prevent abuse.

To communicate with you: send push notifications you opted into (run invites, club activity), reply to support requests, and occasionally announce features.

4. Where your data lives

Your data is stored in Google Firebase services (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) and processed by Google Cloud Functions in the United States. Push notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Live voice chat is routed through LiveKit, our real-time audio provider. Audio is transmitted peer-to-peer where possible and is never persisted.

Crash reporting is provided by Google Firebase Crashlytics.

5. What we share and what we don't

Public runs and public clubs are visible to other Runhaus users. Private runs are visible only to you and anyone you explicitly invite.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party advertising networks inside the app. We do not allow data brokers to access your run history.

We may disclose data when legally required (subpoenas, court orders, lawful government requests) or when needed to protect the safety of our users.

6. Your rights and choices

You can access, export, and delete your account and all associated run data from inside the app under Profile → Settings → Account. Deletion is permanent.

You can revoke Location, Microphone, Camera, and Apple Health permissions at any time from your iPhone Settings. The features that depend on those permissions will pause until you re-enable them.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights including access, correction, portability, and erasure. Email us at hello@runhaus.app to exercise any of them.

7. Children

Runhaus is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under those ages. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. Material changes will be communicated in the app and via email if we have one on file. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

9. Contact us

Questions, requests, or concerns about your data? Email hello@runhaus.app and a human will respond.
